Mukesh Shrestha is a prominent contemporary Nepali artist known for his distinctive visual language and growing international presence. A Master’s graduate in Fine Arts from India, he has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions worldwide.
His work centers on two main themes. One explores distorted human and animal forms set against still backgrounds, reflecting the complexities of contemporary life. The other draws from Nepal’s traditional heritage, reinterpreting deities and sacred imagery through fluid, atmospheric compositions.
These two strands often intersect, engaging with questions of culture, identity, and the influence of tradition on the present. Blending the mythical with the contemporary, Shrestha creates work that is both rooted and relevant.
Alongside his artistic practice, he is also dedicated to teaching, mentoring emerging artists and contributing to art education.
